CEREC Primescan

CEREC Primescan is a dental technology system developed by Dentsply Sirona. It is designed to create highly accurate digital impressions of a patient’s teeth and gums, eliminating the need for traditional physical impressions using impression trays and dental putty.

The CEREC Primescan system consists of a handheld intraoral scanner that captures detailed 3D images of the patient’s oral cavity. The scanner uses high-resolution cameras and advanced software algorithms to create a digital replica of the teeth and soft tissues.

With the digital impressions generated by CEREC Primescan, dentists can create a range of restorations, including crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, and bridges. The system integrates with CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) technology, allowing dentists to design and fabricate custom restorations on-site using milling machines or send the digital files to dental laboratories for fabrication.

The benefits of CEREC Primescan include improved accuracy compared to traditional impressions, reduced chair time for patients, enhanced patient comfort by eliminating the need for impression materials, and the ability to create same-day restorations in many cases.

It’s important to note that my knowledge cutoff is in September 2021, so there may have been advancements or updates to the CEREC Primescan system since then. I recommend checking with the manufacturer or dental professionals for the latest information.
